This is a remote, full-time W2 position.

As a Lead DevOps at PublicSq. you will be part of a group that delivers innovative solutions for our company. We are a startup focused on Connecting freedom-loving Americans with local community, reliable information, and the businesses that share their values.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our efforts in infrastructure automation, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), cloud infrastructure management, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our systems.

This position is part of a department composed of frontend, backend, qa and devops engineers. It requires someone who is team-oriented, technology savvy and driven to produce quality products. You will work collaboratively with fellow department members, project managers, designers and product managers. Our ideal candidate is someone who loves the idea of helping both develop technology and the business.

This position will work collaboratively on our infrastructure, web and app projects.

Role Summary/Major tenets of the role:

  • Will work with the Development, QA, DevOps, and Program Management teams
  • Will be responsible for executing the development roadmap and optimization of cost, reliability, and scalability of our tech stack
  • Clear communicator and assist in the overall performance of the teams

Selected Highlights/Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our CI/CD pipelines to streamline the software delivery process.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using industry-leading tools and best practices.
  • Monitor system performance and reliability, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize uptime and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between development, operations, and business objectives.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices, including access control, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide timely response to system incidents and emergencies.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and Docker for container orchestration and management.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP and AWS, including hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Proficiency in scripting, particularly with Bash and Python, for automating tasks and workflows.
  • Knowledge of GitHub and experience with GitHub Actions for automating workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), or Grafana, with experience in setting up monitoring dashboards and alerting systems.
  • Experience with MongoDB, DocumentDB is a plus.
  • Experience with the agile development process and participation in project and sprint planning processes.
  • Knowledge of frontend and backend environments that leverage Node.js, Java, .NET.
  • Adaptable to ever-changing customer, product, and engineering needs.
